Effective Self Defense Weapons Found in Your Bag

The common bag contains effective self defense weapons for both men and women.  It is just a matter of using them properly to deter assault, defend your self or even escape from trouble.  You don’t have to buy self defense weapons in order to be safe.  Plus, without ample self defense training, you might not be able to wield these weapons effectively.  Worse, they can be used against you.  Moreover, some of these weapons are illegal to carry without. However, there are alternative weapons that are effective when used properly.  You’ll be surprised at how ordinary objects can be turned into effective self defense weapons.

Pens and pencils

Sharpened pencils and pens are great stabbing implements when a Bowie knife is not available.  Plus, you can take these items everywhere without raising any suspicion.  To use this as an effective weapon consider these tips:
  • Hold the pencil or pen with your thumb supporting one end.  This gives you better control when using it as a self defense weapon.
  • Aim for the soft tissue areas.  But if you think this is like an anatomy test, just stab to your heart’s content.
  • Short quick stabs are more effective than swinging your weapon like it is a broad sword.

Keys

Keys are more than just for losing them under the couch.  This group of small little metal is great when you use them to defend yourself.  Hold the key ring in your palm while letting the keys protrude between your fingers in a closed fist.  This gives your punches and strikes a little more zing.

Sprays

Whether it your expensive bottle of perfume or your cheap deodorant spray; you can use these bottles to distract and escape.  But of course it is not as potent as pepper spray.  However, the irritation it does when sprayed in the eyes can temporarily distract your assailant.

Flashlight

This is particularly great at nights where you can temporarily blind your assailant.  Don’t get me wrong, you don’t shove it into the eye of your enemy but that works too.  Simply flash the light at the eyes of the enemy and this can distract him or her.  Like I said, this works best at night.  In the morning you can simply toss it at the bad guy.

As you can see, ordinary items can turn into effective self defense weapons.  With a little imagination, you do not require extensive martial arts training to use these items.  Surely, when you are in a pickle, it is better to act appropriately than just wait for bad things to happen.  When you think you no longer have an option, try reaching down into your bag.  You’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish with a little imagination to inflict pain or cause distraction.
