If you are serious with your health and fitness, there
are some instances when your workout routines need to be put on hold. Yes, you have valid excuses for not
exercising! Although that sounds
counter-productive when you want to lose weight or get fit. But your wellbeing
comes first. Plus, it won’t do you any
good to follow your workout plan if you can get injured or plunge deeper into
sickness.
When you are recovering from an injury
It would be wise if you postpone your workout plans if
you have an injury. Having an injury to
your muscle or bones that you will use in your workout routines should be
allowed to rest and recuperate. If not,
you can face more injuries and kiss your dream to lose weight fast
goodbye. It is important to consult a
physician o your personal fitness trainer whether you can continue exercising
or modify your routine. But it would be
a safer choice to avoid straining yourself at this time.
When you are taking certain medications
Medications affect our performance. And when the medicines you are taking can
affect your muscular control, concentration or even consciousness, you might
want to postpone your exercise routine for the day. A friend of mine took medications that made
him drowsy before he workout out. To
make the long story short, he got stitches and lived to tell the tale of how he
got too close for comfort with his dumbbells.
When you are prescribed medication it would be prudent to
ask your doctor how it can affect your performance in the gym. This way you can continue your workout
without any risks.
When you have certain medical conditions
When your goal is overall health and fitness it is
important that you know your body well.
This will give you a better idea of what workout routines are best for
you. However, when you find out that you
have certain medical conditions that can affect your performance in the gym, it
is best to skip the gym and consult a personal fitness trainer or a physician
in order to design the best exercise routines for you. Another friend of mine had a heart problem
but is still able to exercise regularly after she consulted with
professionals. Her decision to skip the
gym and get professional advise probably saved her life from straining herself
too much.
When you are sick
When you are sick, your body needs to rest to ward of the
infections in the body. Putting
additional physical strain can make you feel worse and even prolong your
sickness. Moreover, going to the gym
sick can put other people at risk of infection.
So stay home and rest instead of spreading your germs with other
people. And, resist the urge to do
strenuous workout at home.
Whether your goal is to lose weight fast or just improve
your well-being, there are instances when taking a break from your workout
routines is wise. Furthermore, health
and fitness includes making the right decisions in order to get the best
results for your body.
