How to Survive A Home Invasion

News about home invasions is scary.  You may think that this is will not happen to you and you maybe right.  But everyone is at risk and home security is at the utmost importance.  The of the most important home security tips you should consider is to prepare for such an event.  This entails knowing what to do and taking the necessary measures through improving your alarm system, improving home security cameras and even investing in reliable home security equipment.

Call an emergency number

When your alarm system is triggered by an intruder, it is prudent to first call an emergency number.  This number may vary from place to place.  Likewise, the response time may differ greatly.  What is essential is that you inform the authorities regarding the breach.

Stay in your room

It is wise to stay in your room and if possible barricade it so the intruder can’t go in your room.  Use heavy furniture like a table or closet as a barricade.  Also, stay away from the door and take cover.

Moving from one bedroom to another

Leave your room only when necessary.  Otherwise stay inside your room.  If you must move to a new room do it swiftly.  It is recommended that everyone in the household knows what to do in case of a home invasions.  This will minimize movement from one room to the other and ensure that everyone barricades his or her door.

Wait for emergency services or police to arrive

It is prudent to wait for the police to arrive before going out of the room.  Likewise, it is wise not to open the door of your room if it is not necessary.
